A few weeks without play showed, as Netherton Sports U15s found themselves trailing 1 – 0 having made a slow and sluggish start against Selby League hosts Pontefract Dragons. Things improved gradually as the half went on, allowing them to create some chances where they could have levelled matters.
Halftime team changes seemed to disrupt their steady progress, as they were almost immediately caught disorganised, conceding another in the second minute before they got going once more. However after conceding they settled well again, striking both posts and working Dragons’ excellent goalie before Harem Ali finally netted to make the score 2 - 1. From there they continued to press and look the most like of the two sides to score but alas they just couldn’t find the clinical finish required.
James Pollard had an excellent game and was named the Topps Tiles’ Man of the Match while Matty Haddon and new boy Corey both also turned in promising performances.
Netherton Sports U15s who train on Wednesday evening indoors at Kettlethorpe High School are seeking to recruit new players, so if interested please contact Team Manager John McClean on Wakefield 382540 or mobile 07904045470.
